Mount Whaleback Mine Site, one of Australia’s largest iron ore operations, faced ongoing reliability and cost challenges with OEM ML80 exciter used on vibrating screens and grizzly feeders. Mining Wear Parts (MWP) supplied three compatible ML80 exciter as a cost-effective alternative, backed by monthly oil condition monitoring. The MWP units delivered similar or better performance than the OEM alternatives while costing approximately 25% less per unit.
The first three exciters remained operational beyond the typical service life benchmark, leading to the installation of a fourth MWP unit. Local stock and compatible rebuild parts also improved supply reliability and maintenance flexibility.
